Hey guys, we 1-2 staff and 1-2 massage therapists.

Staff register members and massage clients, fold laundry, restock supplies and really put the public face on eros. Work one late night shift (til 4 am) on a Friday or Saturday night and work one opening generally if possible during the week (3-9 pm). More shifts can be available. SF livable wage then up to 9.50 after 3 months.

Massage therapists must be licensed in SF or have ability to be licensed asap. Independent contractors, we provide marketing, reservation, cash/credit card processing, laundry, and equipment/supplies. 50/50 cut.

New Resource to be Released on Thanksgiving

EROS Releases New Gay Sex Resource at Annual Member Appreciation Day

SAN FRANCISCO – The venerable and popular safe sex club, EROS at 2051 Market Street in San Francisco, is celebrating their 15th Anniversary by rolling out a new back pocket guide to gay sexual health. The postcard size resource was developed during the summer, utilizing an intern from Antioch College who is a graduate of the SF Sex Information training.

In recent years, EROS has relied upon educational and health marketing from community partners, such as STOP AIDS Project, SF Department of Public Health, and the SF AIDS Foundation. “We’ll continue to use those resources,” said Ken Rowe, Director of Community Relations and Education at EROS, “but after 15 years, we’ve heard some specific questions come up over and over again, and we wanted to address them.”

Owing a lot to previous grass roots efforts such as those from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgences, STOP AIDS Project, and St. James Infirmary this new resource brings the focus of self care back to basics.

The card is entitled “A Safer Sex Guide for Gay Men” and specifically covers “Be Good to Your Body”, “Know Your Boundaries”, “Get Tested and Communicate”, “Protect Yourself and Play Safe” and specifically covers Safe Sex when visiting a sex club.

Besides being distributed to everyone coming in on their Thanksgiving Day Members Appreciation Day, the card will be distributed at EROS, throughout the community and on a new section of the www.erossf.com website.

EROS Factoid
Since January 2007, over 1000 copies of the 8 page booklet “Safer Sex for Transguys” have been distributed by Trannywood Pictures, a project of EROS – the Center for Safe Sex which can be viewed at www.trannywoodpictures.com.

Trannywood Pictures
Before the party starts, we are planning on shooting a lube wrestling
scene for a Trannywood Gone Wild dvd. If you would like to be part of

issued IDs are required and the signing of a model release form.
Besides getting into the party for free, a small stipend is provided.
All genders and bodies are welcome, though for the initial scene, we
will be focused on trans men and non trans men.

Location
The All Queers Eve party is located at EROS, 2051 Market Street in San
Francisco. It's Halloween, so consider public transportation or
carpooling.

We are beginning to look at possible special events, for discounted entries during the Winter months at EROS.

We are probably beginning quarterly bear nights.

What else are folks interested in?

I'm thinking a monthly motorcycle night, bring in AMA, club colors or a helmet for a discount entry that night.

We've gotten requests for a Daddyhunt night, or 50+ night (often requested by young guys looking for older)

I'm kinda avoiding gym night, because that's kinda cliche at a sex club.

Rapid Testing means that you will get your HIV results at the end of your walk-in session, instead of coming back in one week. This type of testing option works well for discouraged folks who may not test at all because of the traditional extra step involved for their results, and for folks with schedules that may not allow a return visit for results at the times available.

What's been happening at EROS?

A lot! April marks the 15th Anniversary of this unique safe sex club on Market Street in San Francisco. Staff, managers, owners and friends have been reflecting on the club was born and how it has grown. Be sure to look for our special anniversary logo around town. We are now advertising on news racks (look around Church and Market for our new one), at the 3 Dollar Bill Café at SF LGBT Center, and in the programs of art and cultural groups like the Gay Men’s Chorus.

All those are high visibility areas for EROS, but we aren’t stopping there. We are sponsoring a team in the Gay Softball League, we are a co-presenter of the Queer Arts Festival during June, our Executive Director is now on the Steering Committee of the Merchants of Upper Market and Castro, our Operations and Community Relations Director is co-Chair of the Community Partners for the STD Division of the Department of Pubic Health, and also serves on the Trans March Steering Committee during Pride.

This past year we’ve continued to make improvements to the club, and more are on the way. Much of our focus has been indulge day spa related, and that energy has spilled over to our massage studio and Club EROS. Our massage rooms have been remodeled and we are expanding our hot water capacity and other amenities.

The unique look and feel of EROS has been used by a number of porn companies in the last year, from Cyberbears to Colt and from Pantheon to Raging Stallions. We’ve also helped develop Trannywood Pictures, which fills an important and growing niche for hot safe sex and porn that includes trans men. We expect to launch another porn concept during this anniversary year that focuses on hot safe sex in the broader gay men’s community. Our first film, “Cubbyholes: Trans Men in Action” was released earlier this year to rave reviews and has been screened or will be screened at the Forge Forward Film Festival in Milwaukee, the Queer Film Festival at the University of Oregon in Eugene, and the Transgender Film Festival in the Netherlands. It can be purchased at many of the clean well lit sex shops around the country, like Babeland, Early to Bed, Tulip and Smitten Kitten as well as at EROS.

EROS continues to be used as a cultural and community center with groups using our class room and our art gallery hosting new and exciting erotic works from Morris Taylor’s water colors to our next show of Micca Bandit’s punk inspired photography. Our monthly open mic, Re-Tool and Grind continues to make a mark for itself and the BBC just filmed a segment in our lounge with Stephen Fry and a number of our regulars for a documentary on community responses to HIV/AIDS.

Besides all the above, this anniversary year, EROS is also launching an internship program and partnering with the Center for Sex and Culture and EROS’s founder, Buzz Bense, on a series of publications and events around the formation of EROS and the sex positive communities in San Francisco.

Added Value during the EROS at 15 year included an additional Member Appreciation Day on Wednesday, April 25, where members get in free and the Gold 12-month memberships are only $15 for a full year rather than $20.

EROS now has AIDS Health Project - Rapid Testing referral cards for HIV Testing at sites a block from EROS and in the Castro area. Be sure to ask a staff person for the Rapid Testing card on the way in or out of the Club.

Rapid Testing means that you will get your HIV results at the end of your walk-in session, instead of coming back in one week. This type of testing option works well for discouraged folks who may not test at all because of the traditional extra step involved for their results, and for folks with schedules that may not allow a return visit for results at the times available.

The Ring is a men’s group for gay and bisexual men focusing on education and skills around bondage and discipline. The Ring holds their workshops at Eros twice a month at 7:30 pm. The second Monday of each month is Bondage Night.

Men can see expert demos and get hands-on group practice in an informal and safe setting. The fourth Monday of each month is Discussion Night. These workshops give you a chance to meet guys who share a particular interest.

Mr. Holland's large male portraits (painted in 2001-2004) are executed on Arches 300-pound cold-press watercolor paper. They have been reasonably priced for sale and the artist is donating 25% of the proceeds to support the work of the STOP AIDS Project.

Our friends at the STOP AIDS Project need your help

STOP AIDS is interviewing men who have been to a sex club or public cruise area in the last 6 months. They especially want to hear from men who make most of their connections at sex clubs – so all you regulars, step right up!

The interview and survey only takes about 15 minutes. You receive a stipend of $10.00 in cash once the survey has been completed. If you choose, you can complete a reminder post card that will be sent to you in about 6 months asking you to schedule a follow-up interview. The follow-up interview also takes about 15 minutes and the stipend is increased to $15.00.

Your responses will help guide the development of useful community health programs and events. Help us help you – share your experiences now!

Enough of the March Madness...let’s move to March Mayhem. We have a bunch of new events at EROS this month, including a new art show by Jim Gravely with incredibly seductive nude men. The recently formed Poly Gay/Bi Men’s group is moving from the LGBT Center to EROS for their monthly event, and the Gay Men’s Community Initiative is starting a new group at EROS, “Sex Talk”. It’s going to be a hot month, that’s for sure. Added to all that, the SF boys Of Leather return to EROS for their every other month public demo/discussion, the Ring continues every other week, Re-Tool & Grind (our FTM & Friends open mic) continues. Thanks to all who helped with our periodic demographic and marketing survey. We plan on future surveys to help define programming and special events. Look for those soon. You guys are the reason EROS is the fantastic space to meet hot men, explore new interests, and support community.

New Show – Nudes by Jim

EROS is proud to premiere the seductive photography of Jim Gravely. Jim is new to the field of male nude photography. Inspired by a chance meeting with Klaus Gerhardt he picked up the camera at the urging of a friend and started taking black and white photographs.

The men he photographs are the average man on the street type. Usually photographing outdoors he uses natural light and backgrounds to create a union with nature.

His philosophy in photography is to capture the essence of the subject. Seeing how far he can push the envelope and yet create a feeling of unity with nature is another goal.

The exhibit will show from Mid March through May.

Michel St. Germain: portraits of my fave San Francisco celebutantes

Reverend Michel St. Germain is a bay area native who has spent the past few years scurrying around his beloved San Francisco (and recently into the East Bay as well) documenting the Bohemian performance cultures that inspire him. His photographic adventures have been both big and small and have seen him photographing things one might expect (i.e. rock bands, politicians, public events, etc.*) but they have also given him amazing experiences with fire dancers, machete climbers, butoh artists, and illusionists that would easily fill the pages of an enthralling children's tale about running away to the circus! The new century has been a playground of wonders and a muse for Reverend Michel, and he has photographed it with the diligence of someone trying to preserve the magic of moments in time for all to see.

AHP Rapid Testing

EROS now has AIDS Health Project - Rapid Testing referral cards for HIV Testing at sites a block from EROS and in the Castro area. Be sure to ask a staff person for the Rapid Testing card on the way in or out of the Club.

Rapid Testing means that you will get your HIV results at the end of your walk-in session, instead of coming back in one week. This type of testing option works well for discouraged folks who may not test at all because of the traditional extra step involved for their results, and for folks with schedules that may not allow a return visit for results at the times available.

The Ring is a men’s group for gay and bisexual men focusing on education and skills around bondage and discipline. The Ring holds their workshops at Eros twice a month at 7 pm. The second Monday of each month is Bondage Night. Men can see expert demos and get hands-on group practice in an informal and safe setting. The fourth Monday of each month is Discussion Night. These workshops give you a chance to meet guys who share a particular interest. The format includes a moderated group discussion plus time for general group interaction, giving you a hands-on opportunity to interact directly with the other guys who attend. We’ve been busy shaking things up and trying to figure out how EROS can make your December twinkle. It’s been exciting having our shower room featured in the hot [2] magazine which features the steamiest couples around (see below for more info). We also just saw Raging Stallions do a video and print shoot in shower area. We have finished the first rounds of our locker room renovation and were happy to have Falcon Studios take advantage of the space last month for some sexy jock action. This week sees the return of the STOP AIDS Project utilizing our classroom space for SM 101 (see info below). The EROS Massage Studio has been busy during this chilly season, but there are often times available for walk ins and reservations (gift certificates are available for those naughty and nice on your gift lists). I almost forgot, we are beginning to introduce some requested items, such as non-alcohol mouthwash, in addition to Scope, and Purell hand sanitizer. We hope to roll out another item right before the holidays, so keep a look out when you visit EROS.

Photographer Jeff Compasso returns to the EROS Gallery with a new collection of photos showcasing his passion for capturing the pure and simple beauty of the nude human form in dramatic, black & white photography.

Artist's reception/fundraiser for Jeff Compasso at EROS on Friday, September 16th from 7 to 9 pm. Anyone who donates ten dollars or more will receive a Jeff Compasso print, which Jeff will be available to sign. Donate $20 and get two prints!

“There’s no better way than spending my waking hours by surrounding myself with beauty, playing with that beauty, and creating something new to share with the world! Suggestions for Support of Katrina Relief

The AIDS community is no stranger in being left behind by our government. Survivors of Hurricane Katrina who are also living with
HIV face enormous challenges to stay alive and to get back on their feet. Many of the evacuees will likely have to remain wherever they've landed for a long time. If you would like to direct your cash donations to where the needs are the greatest, the following two AIDS community agencies are on the front lines of the relief effort.

In Louisiana:
The Executive Director of Acadiana C.A.R.E.S. is a co-chair on the Louisiana AIDS Advocacy Network, along with the ED of the New Orleans AIDS Task Force. Your donation will help them provide immediate food, medication, housing, and other services for evacuees. This coalition will also head up the coordination of services in the long run for the hardest hit state.

We work with community leaders who are experts in their kink or sexual activities....but what topics would you like in the future?

We've done intro to kink, butt toys, condoms (one size doesn't fit all), Sex Club 411, etc. I've got more facitators/teachers...but need topics.

Most of our workshops are in our lounge but some are in our classroom.
